Assisting Flood Affected Communities in Killinochchi.



Heavy rains in Kilinochchi have caused floods on 6th December, 2019 in the Social Architects’ project villages Paranthan and Murasumotte with the number of families 395 and 48 respectively. Eight sluice gates of the Iranamadu tank in Kilinochchi have been opened after the district experienced heavy rains. For two days, people were provided shelter in the following schools:

KN/ Murasumottai GTMS

KN/Puliyampokkanai Nagenthira Vidyalayam.

Members of The Social Architects, Kilinochchi Branch and the youth groups (YfSF) helping to rescue people. 07/12/2019: The Community Advocates of TSA reached the affected areas and held discussions with the Grama Niladhari about the situation in schools in which people are being provided shelter.

TSA youth groups (YfSF) give their fullest support on behalf of The Social Architects. The following areas apart from our project villages were affected due to flood.

1.Karachchi –  3999 Family : 12,662 people

2.Kandavalai –  12,273 people 

3.Ponagary – 206 family : 596  people

4.Pallai – 319 Family : 917 people
